Masters & Doctoral Programme
 in Humanities and Cultural Studies

Programmes

The Consortium offers two postgraduate degrees: a one-year Master of Research (MRes), and a three-year doctoral (PhD) programme in Humanities and Cultural Studies.

Master of Research

The Master of Research programme is available only as a one-year full-time course. It is a challenging post-graduate introduction to theories, methods and knowledges in the humanities and cultural studies. Students will combine coursework and research throughout, culminating in the production of a dissertation. The Master of Research may be taken as a stand-alone degree in its own right, or may act as a pathway into the Consortium PhD programme.

Doctoral programme

The PhD programme offers the possibility of a broad grounding in theories, methods and skills in the humanities and cultural studies combined with the production of a substantial piece of original research. Students on this full-time programme combine research work with an active programme of seminars in their three years of study, and are encouraged to get involved in additional activities, particularly in association with one or more of the constituent institutions, during the conduct of their research.
