Part time Public Programme Assistant | £8,500 | Camberwell College of Arts, SE5

16 hours per week, fixed term contract for one year

This is an excellent opportunity for people looking to develop a career in the arts. In the position of Public Programme Assistant you will be supervised by the Director of Public Programmes to assist with both Marketing and Documentation of an artistic programme that connects Peckham, south-east London, to local and national audiences. With its agenda of social engagement, this high profile programme will feature four new commissions and four artists’ talks each year.

* Documentation

You will help to raise the programme’s profile via a website (which you will create in liaison with a designer), assisting with the technical aspects of each commission’s documentation - such as formatting audio and images for the web, invites and catalogues. Having already documented public arts projects to a professional standard, you will be used to working alongside designers and artists in order to reach a common goal. You should also be experienced in events management, including promoting public events online.

* Marketing

You will develop a database to reach targeted audiences, stakeholders and funders, while also helping prepare and distribute various marketing materials - including press releases, reviews and catalogues. With proven experience of marketing artistic projects, you will have displayed sound administrative skills and the ability to communicate effectively with others.

We expect you to have professional experience in arts management, plus a proven interest in socially engaged art and public contexts. Outgoing and organised, you should also exhibit a natural empathy with all sections of the local community - from community groups to academic institutions to local artists.
