Festival Assistants Wanted
Fashion in Film Festival, London 2008
POSITIONS: 3 x Researchers (1 x Picture Research, 2 x
Factual & Archive), 1 x Administrative Assistant to Curators (Office Based)
SUPERVISORS: FFF Director / Curator and Associate Curator
OPEN POSITIONS: September 2007
SCHEDULE: 1-2 days per week (Voluntary)
Gain valuable research and practical experience working directly with the curatorial team, and assist in research, development and administration for the forthcoming for Fashion in Film Festival 2008: opening May 2008 in some of London’s most prestigious cultural venues: BFI Southbank, Tate Modern, The Horse Hospital, Spring Studios, Cine Lumiere, Institut Français and the ICA.
Person Specification
Education and Training: Degree or post graduate qualification in Art, Fashion or Film History/Theory.
Skills and Abilities: You must be extremely well-organised and capable of managing files and databases. You will have excellent communications and writing skills. The nature of organizing a festival also requires that you are able to work effectively under pressure, always meet deadlines and respond well to unexpected tasks. Knowledge of a foreign language and good research skills would be a plus.
ABOUT US:
Fashion in Film is a leading forum for research and retrospective exhibition of
international film, in which fashion and clothes play a significant part, and
2006 the festival toured London, New York’s Museum of the Moving Image and
Arnhem’s Moda Biennale, The festival features curated screening evenings,
symposia, tolks and other events. Drawing on a rich film history from its
beginnings to the present, and a wide variety of genres ranging from feature
and documentary film to artist video, animation shorts and newsreels, FFF
investigates how the moving image has represented and interpreted fashion as
a concept, industry and cultural form. Fashion in Film brings together
audiences and experts from many different fields including fashion, costume,
film, design, art and history, all critically engaged with fashion and its relationship to the moving image.
