Development Internship - SPACE

Entry added: September 13th, 2007 | Posted in Internships, Noticeboard

SPACE Internship Scheme

SPACE runs a successful ongoing internship scheme at The Triangle, Hackney. Previous interns have gone on to employment with the TATE, London galleries, National arts organisations and permanent positions at SPACE. We provide the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the arts, improve your marketing skills and develop audience participation; the experience also prepares you for many challenges involved with arts administration. The internship focuses on specific projects tailored to the interns experience and academic qualifications. It is aimed at people with experience in the arts and pro-active team players. If you think you can commit to at least one day per week, we would like to hear from you.

In return we offer a £10 travel allowance for each day’s attendance, as well as a chance to gain valuable experience in office administration. Applicants will be given appropriate training to assist them with their tasks, so while good IT skills are preferred, we will accept applications from those prepared to develop their skills in this area.

Development Intern

As we approach our 40th anniversary in 2008 and in the context of the 2012 Olympics, we have a unique opportunity to make a significant step forward in the organisation’s future stability & prosperity. To capitalize on our prestigious year we will be launching a series of events throughout the year, with the aim of garnering both financial and advocate support.

The Development intern will be tasked with the key role of researching and collating a list of potential donors and supporters for invitation to key fundraising and celebratory events and assisting in their organisation. Supporting the Development coordinator, the intern will use SPACE’s existing archive and database to identify past & present stakeholders, donors and studio artists alongside identifying new future stakeholders and donors. In addition they will assist in the organisation of a series of events that will contribute to the long term development strategy of SPACE. This activity is key to our future success and offers a great opportunity for someone to develop their skills, prove their ability and make valuable contacts.

The Ideal Candidate must have:
Excellent oral & written communication skills
Research experience
Event organisation
Computer literate
Time management
