Film Project Development Internship

Hours of Work: Minimum 16 hours a week (to start week beginning Sept 3rd)
Length of Contract: 4 month placement from Sept 07 - December 07, with the potential for the right candidate to fill a full time position on the East End Film Festival from Jan - April 08.

Background
The Tower Hamlets Films Office aims to promote filmmakers and filmmaking in the Borough and create a sustainable, professional film community and infrastructure through supporting SME’s and individual talent, developing opportunities for new audiences to engage with film and moving image, raise the standards of filmmaking through training and creating access to professionals in the community. Tower Hamlets Films Office works in partnership with Newham and Hackney councils, and local organisations and is part of Tower Hamlets Arts and Events working with Baishakhi Mela, Paradise Gardens, Lovebox, East End Film Festival and House of Talent.

Job Description
To deliver comprehensive support to the Tower Hamlets Films Office through assisting with the day to day running and administration of office and in the development of films office projects and strands of work. Primary project work would be East End Film Festival, working closely with the festival producer to develop a comprehensive audience development programme to feed into the main festival event in April.

This is an excellent opportunity to get involved in a busy office and develop opportunities for local filmmakers and the local community. This would be an ideal position for anyone interested in gaining experience of arts management, events management and festival programming. For the right candidate there is an opportunity to take a full time position on the East End Film Festival from Jan 08 - April 08

Person Specification - Essential
* To be able to commit to the contract and work in line with Tower Hamlets policies
* To have excellent organisational skills
* To have excellent interpersonal skills and can communicate with a wide range of people
* Excellent practical knowledge of IT, including microsoft word, excel and office
* Good knowledge of using the internet for research
* Knowledge of photoshop

Desirable
* Good Knowledge of the area (Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Newham)
* Knowledge and interest in world film
* An understanding of issues around filmmaking
